How To Tow With the Tailgate Down Using Equal-i-zer System

Question:

We have a 2017 Dodge 3500 diesel w/short bed, we are towing our 2017 Crossroads Zinger 37BH and have a 4point equalizer hitch system. However we need to carry our golf cart in the bed of the truck with tailgate down and need a hitch extender to do so. What do you recommed?

The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4600 should allow you to tow with the tailgate down on your 2017 Ram 3500. I have attached a photo for you of this shank used with a similar system on a similar truck

The above-mentioned Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4600 is actually the longest WD shank we have available (from any manufacturer). Do you know about how much more clearance you're needing?

i have a 2019 2500 dodge and tow a 2019 keystone 2950 gt bh. i recently smashed my tailgate in to my tongue jack backing into a camping spot with golf cart in bed and tail gate down. How would i know if the 18 inch shank would give me the clearance when backing into a campsite?

It may be hard to really ensure turn clearance with a new extension, but you can certainly determine how much of a difference the Equal-i-zer Shank # EQ90-02-4600 would make over your existing unit. Just measure from the hitch pin hole on your Ram to the adjustment holes on the WD shank when it's inserted. Compare this to the 14" measurement on the Equal-i-zer shank to see how much more clearance it will give you.
