Mounting Orientation Required Tekonsha Primus IQ, Prodigy P2 & Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controllers

Question:

This is an embarrassing question. No excuse for my lack of product knowledge and checking on a professional installation at the time of installation. I have hauled many different types of trailers many miles over many years. The controller for our Primus IQ braking system is mounted upside down. I cannot find any thing in the limited information we received in the box we got from the installer that specifically states that the controller is to be installed with what would be considered the top side up. Other than being upside down, it is correct to the direction of travel. We have had this unit for a while, the tow vehicle is not used as a primary driving vehicle. It was used to haul the also newly acquired travel trailer some 790+ miles, a 9 hour drive the day of installation. Could there be any injury to the unit, the trailer it was connected to or the tow vehicle? When the weather cooperates I intend to correct the position and it will not be used to haul before that.

The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 is not capable of being mounted upside down. This controller is only allowed to be up to mounted from flat 0 degree plane up to 70 degrees vertical.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195 are the controllers that can me mounted in any vertical orientation including upside down as your IQ was incorrectly mounted. These controllers along with the IQ do have to be mounted in the direction of travel to allow the internal sensor to function properly.

There should not be any damage done to the internal sensor, it just likely would have not operated correctly.
