Recommended Leaf Spring Replacement For A 1999 MFI Boat Trailer

Updated 09/16/2025 | Published 02/14/2022

Question:

I have a 1999 mfi boat trailer, model number SB – 70-20 that I need to buy replacement leaf springs. It currently has single leaf springs on it and I would like to replace them with multi leaf springs. The GVWR is 3,500 lb, the center to Center measurement on the current leaf springs is 26 and 3/4, closed ends. Thanks for your help

Expert Reply:

To replace your current 26-3/4" double-eye leaf springs I recommend the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 27" Long # SP-210275. It is slightly longer at 27" but are flexible enough to still work for your application with no problems.

@BenK When you say axle rebuild kit are you maybe referring to the hubs on the ends of the axle? Are you looking for bearings?

@JamesonC bearings and seals. And potentially calipers and breaks since it has disc surge brakes

@BenK Since the trailer has a 3,500 lb axle the correct bearing kit would be the part # BK2-100.
