I need help choosing a wiring harness for my 2022 Toyota Highlander. I will be installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" Item # e75ZR and need help selecting a harness that will let me pull my trailer.

To begin you will need to know if your trailer has a 4-way flat connector or a 7-way connection.

The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR for your 2022 Toyota Highlander has a 4-way flat connector. This type of connection is most commonly used on small trailers with no brakes or boat trailers that have surge brakes. The connector only carries power for the running lights, brake lights and turn signals to function. The Mounting Brackets # 18140 and # 18144 will allow you to secure the 4-way on the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR without drilling into the receiver or fascia.

The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter # TK57VR will have a 7-way connector. This connector is used on larger trailers like campers or trailers with electric brakes. The Mounting Brackets # 18140 and # PK12711U are needed to secure this connector to the receiver. This will also allow you to install a trailer brake controller inside your Highlander. The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR will mount inside one of the blank accessory covers using the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002.
