2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Parts Needed to Flat Tow

Question:
I would like to tow my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd automatic with my Forest River Georgetown 38 Class A, V10 Ford Chassis. I do have a Blue Ox Towbar, base plate kit, and safety cables that were used on my brother-in-laws 2015 Chevy Suburban before he sold his class A. Do you think this is doable, and what all would I need to get set up? I did not get the wiring harness or any type of braking system. Thanks in advance. We have been using a tow dolly with a Chevy Equinox for the last few years and I would like to switch to the truck if possible.

It looks like your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a curb weight that ranges from 4,510 lbs to 5,460 lbs. I'm not sure what the towing weight rating is for your Class A but you should be able to find it in the manual, on a sticker, or you can call Forest River with your VIN and they should be able to tell you the max that you can tow - I would be surprised if your Class A couldn't handle your 1500 though.
When it comes to the equipment needed to flat tow you need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. Your tow bar and safety cables will be rated high enough for your truck since they were used for a 2015 Suburban, but the base plate kits are different so we need to get you a new set of those. Here is what I recommend for your application:
Your Blue Ox tow bar/safety cables, like the Ascent # BX4370
Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - # BO94FR
Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit - # RM-15267
Battery Disconnect - # RM-766 (optional)
Brake System - Motorhome hydraulic brakes # DM86VR OR Motorhome air brakes # DM26VR
Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.
I'm also linking some installation videos for you to reference.
