Question:

This appears to be for a fifth wheel. My truck has an electronic taillight converter but it has been tapped into several times and is corroded. Just looking to tap into the factory harness for a 7 prong plug for my trailers with electric brakes. was looking at item 20111, but not sure if that is correct?

For your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. Plug in wiring harnesses like the # HM56200 you were looking at tend to have issues so I always recommend a standard diode kit to keep everything simple and easy.

This kit is going to come with everything you need to transfer your motorhome's light signals to your Ram, such as the 4 Hy-Power diodes, 6-way vehicle socket, 6-way to 7-way adapter cable, etc. The diodes will prevent any electrical feedback and the damage it can cause to your vehicle's electrical components as well. The # HM56200 you were looking at is for flat towing your vehicle, which is why I recommended the wiring kit that I did. If you were wanting to just replace your trailer wiring harness for your vehicle so you can tow your trailer then you can use the Draw-Tite Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness with 7-Pole - Dodge with Factory Tow Package # 20111. This wiring harness is going to plug into your factory wiring and simply replace the 7-way socket you have on your Ram. If you are saying that the factory wiring is damaged and needs to be replaced as well then you would want the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector and Circuit Tester # 119178KIT along with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. These two together will completely replace all of the wiring for your 7-way.
