How To Add A 7 Way Trailer Plug To A 2022 Honda Odyssey So A Brake Controller Can Be Used

Question:

I have a 2022 Honda Odyssey that I put the Tekonsha 118781 4 flat plug on a couple months ago, but I need to get that up to a 7 way plug now. I will need a brake controller as well. The little camper I am looking at has electric brakes and I want to be able to use them. Thanks.

Already having the 4 Flat on your 2022 Honda Odyssey definitely makes upgrading to a 7 Way a lot easier. This is due to the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7 piggybacking off that 4 Flat. You will need to run a few wires up to the battery and then into the cab of your van to get a brake controller up and running, but I included an install video on a 2014 Odyssey for you to check out as well.

For the controller, I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR. This will only have the adjustment/manual override knob exposed once installed, so it will be one of the cleanest looks once installed. It can also handle up to 6 brakes (3 axles) and can be used with electric and electric over hydraulic brakes, so I highly recommend this controller.
