How To Choose the Correct 5TH Wheel Hitch To Clear Bed Rails On a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500?

Question:

How do I know that a 5th wheel hitch will have enough adjustment to fit my 5th wheel trailer with my new truck? I just got a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD and the bed is a lot taller than my last truck. It is a long bed and also has the new bed mount platform for a 5th wheel hitch to mount.

The 5th wheel hitches like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3715 that will fit your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 are going to have height adjustability to help dial in the correct height for your 5th wheel trailer. On this B&W hitch it is adjustable from 16-3/4" to 18-3/4" vertically. The mounting tabs on your 5th wheel trailer will also allow for adjustability up and down as well for clearing your bed sides.

You can measure the height of your truck bed from the mounting points to the top of the bed rails. Then you will want to add 6" for the clearance needed between your bed rails and the underside of the 5th wheel. You will be able to then measure down to your pin box on your trailer to ensure that there is enough adjustability in the 5th wheel hitch to ensure you will have enough clearance.
