Yes, According to the owners manual for your 2020 Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback you can flat tow your Sonic with automatic transmission. I have included a list of the parts you will need, as well as a recommendation for each part. You will want to make sure you consult the owners manual for your Sonic to be sure you complete any requirements/recommendations from the manufacturer before towing your Sonic.
Base Plate Kit: This Provides the attachment point for the tow bar coming from your RV. I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1703.
Tow Bar: This is what will attach to the RV and then to your Sonic for towing. I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # e47ZR. This tow bar is compatible with the base plate kit recommended above and includes the safety chains which saves you from having to get those separately.
Tow Bar Wiring: This is going to be what allows you to get the signal lights needed for towing without tapping into your towed car's electrical system. I recommend the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit # RM-152-LED. This wiring will be run to the front of the Sonic and you can install a connector like the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit # RM-146-7 which provides a 6-way on the front of your sonic and a cord to run across to your RV. According to GM there will be fuses that need to be pulled for flat towing your Sonic. If you do not have the keyless access then you would just need (1) of the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511. If you do have the keyless access then you would need (2) of the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511 and (1) of the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76512. You should consult your Sonic's owners manual for what fuses need to be pulled and where they are located. These bypass switches are not technically needed, but they will save you from having to get into your fuse box every time to physically pull the fuse.
Supplemental Braking System: This is going to be what allows you to safely travel and stop your Sonic while being flat towed. I recommend the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR. This will give you automatic, proportional braking with a system that never has to be removed, replaced, or reset.
Additionally you may need a High-Low adapter to make sure your tow set up is within 3" of level. I have attached an article that goes over how to determine if an adapter is needed and what size is needed. I have also linked our selection of High-Low adapters so that you can select the one that you need if you determine one is needed.
