Getting a brake controller installed on your 2007 Ford F-150 will require a few things. First will be a 4 Flat like the Curt # C56031, if you do not already have one. This will supply the power to the taillights, but you will also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 for the rest of the needed power and functions. This will piggyback off the 4 Flat and includes the 7 Way, all the needed wiring, circuit breakers, and brackets needed to add a brake controller.
There is a very wide variety of brake controllers, so it will be up to you to decide which way to go. One that I really like is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR. This has an extremely clean look once installed and can be mounted anywhere it will fit, which is a big plus. It can handle up to 6 brakes on a trailer and can also be used with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes.
For the sag and sway you are experiencing, we do have a couple options. The SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA28 is starting to get a lot more popular as it is quick and easy to install and does a good job of supplementing stock suspension. The only drawback, for me anyway, is that they are not adjustable once installed. Some people prefer a set it an forget it product like this, but they are not for me.
Personally, I am a fan of air bags if a vehicle is sagging or swaying, so I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2350. These will be a more difficult install, but they are also fully adjustable, offering up to 4,800 pounds of support at 100 psi, and then are able to be deflated down to 5 psi, returning you to a stock ride. Which I like.
