The first thing you will need to do to get a 7 way installed on your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee without the factory tow package is to get a 4 way connector installed. I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118727. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove the tail lights to access this harness. Once the 4 way is installed you can use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way # ETBC7 which comes with all of the wiring and parts needed to install a working 7 way on your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. You may also want to pick up the Curt No-Drill Bracket # C57202 which will give you the mounting point for the bracket that comes with the # ETBC7 for mounting your 7 way connector.
If you are getting the 7 way installed to tow a trailer and still need a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. This brake controller is one of our top rated brake controllers and will provide you with a proportional brake controller that activates trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. So essentially the brakes will be applied with the same force as you apply them in your Jeep, providing for a safer and smoother braking experience.
