Question:

Two questions: 1 - How does the system work when going downhill using the transmission as braking rather than the coach brakes? 2 - Do you have a recommendation for where to place the control box under the hood of a 2002 Jeep Wrangler? Thanks

If you are not using the coach brakes, there won't be any activation of the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System with Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR.

The reason for that is the system activates the brakes based on both inertia (sensed by the G-Force Controller) and the brake signal, so without both of those, the braking system won't engage. In regards for where to place the control box, there isn't a specific spot I can offer on a 2002 Wrangler, but a lot of what we see is people installing it on either side of the engine compartment with self-tapping screws.

That said, if you rely on your RV's auxiliary braking frequently, the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO # DM86VR may not be the best option. What you can use instead is a system that connects to your RV's hydraulic brakes so it doesn't use the brake lights, it uses air pressure from your coach's brakes to depress the brake pedal in your Jeep, and that unit is the Roadmaster BrakeMaster Braking System with BrakeAway for RVs with Hydraulic Brakes # RM-9060.
