Battery Isolator Solenoid for 2002 Ford Ranger

Question:
I bought and installed part #5506, mainly to get Aux power from truck battery to 7-blade connector. I am now concerned about Aux blade being hotinch all of the time. I have a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4. It came standard with a 4-pin connector. I had to install a Hopkins 4-pin to 7-blade adapter to tow my RV. I use a Curt Echo brake controller, but wanted the Aux power to provide some charge to RV battery while towing. I have been reading about needing a relay to kill power when the truck is off. I believe there is a relay for the 4-pin connector powering RV tail/brake lights, etc., but I assume my 12v Aux power wire bypasses that relay since it runs directly to the battery 40a circuit breaker installed. Yes? Any thoughts/suggestions about my setup? Thank you.

We've got the perfect solution for you. A battery isolation solenoid like part # PK5231201 would install inline on the 12V feed from the battery to the 7-way. The remaining terminal would connect to a power source that's hot with the ignition on. The solenoid would cut power to the trailer connector when the vehicle ignition is switched off, so you'll have no worries of the 12V feed depleting your truck battery.
