Question:

I have a Dodge ram 2009 Laramie with Dual rear exhaust. Will the heat from the exhaust melt the Cargo Box?

Since the exhaust on your 2009 Dodge Ram Laramie points straight back, it is recommended to use exhaust tips to direct the exhaust flow downward or away from the the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR. The platform of this cargo carrier will sit close to your rear exhaust and at that distance, the heat from the exhaust could potentially damage the plastic of the cargo carrier.

Your truck likely already has exhaust tips installed, if those exhaust tips are removable, then you could replace them with different tips. If your exhaust tips are welded on and cannot be removed, I would recommend looking into a completely metal cargo carrier.

For a metal cargo carrier, I recommend looking at the etrailer Carrier, # e98874. This 24 X 60 cargo carrier has a bend in the shank that raises the platform 2 inches. Additionally, it it sits 19-1/2" away from the hitch pin hole when in use. These three things would all help your exhaust situation.
