Question:
I belive the 2 Dexter axles are 3500#. Ive changes brake on backing plates on some of my boats through the years. You just unbolt the backing plate , held on by 4 bolts and replace. The Dexter axles don`t accept the bolt on backing plate. Question is how do irenew brakes?

Expert Reply:
If you indeed have Dexter 3,500 Lb Axles then the braking assemblies can be swapped out easily by removing the four nuts that attach the backing plate to the flange. Once you cut the wire you can then remove the old assemblies and replace them with the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-468-469 and install in the reverse order. I suggest the Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies part # BRKH10B.
If you have a different setup please send photos so I can verify.
