We haven't tested this specifically on the 2018 Subaru Forester but I can tell you what to measure in order to determine whether or not the Thule Motion XT XXL Rooftop Cargo Box # TH629906 will fit on your roof and still allow you to completely open the rear hatch. You'll want to measure the distance from the center of your front crossbar to the line where the roof meets the rear cargo hatch; as long as this distance is 55" or greater then the XXL will fit without any issues.
If you need a slightly smaller box, the Thule Motion XT XL # TH629806 has 18 cu/ft of storage space and requires 51-1/4" from the front crossbar to the line where the hatch meets the roof and would be the next smallest box.
If you measure and find that you need something smaller, just let me know and I can see what might fit with your crossbar positioning.
