Why Yakima Roof Cargo Box Shakes on Roof at Speed

Question:

Hello, I wanted to know if there was a way to the shaking of my cargo box on my 2018 GMC Yukon Denali XL? The cross bars have to be positioned closer together than on our 2009 GMC Yukon XL. Thanks for any help.

What you are experiencing with your Yakima Skybox NX 16 cargo box # Y95AV is wind buffeting. This is turbulent wind that comes off of your windshield and is causing your cargo carrier to shake. Motorcyclists experience this a lot too as the wind comes off of the fairing and hits the helmet and shakes it around. The only solution is to move the cargo box around on the roof. Try moving it further back and if that does not work try forward. Basically, you have to find the sweet spot that will cause it to stop.
