Question:

2016 silverado with 7 way plug. utility trailer has the likings of the 7 way plug and will into pickup, but trailer lights dont work. The plug on utility trailer has no center pin since it has no back up lights. will this kit work to get lights et al to work even though only six wires on this trailer. Help!

The Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # HS381-9000 you were looking at will work perfectly on your utility trailer even though it only has 6 wires.

First things first I recommend verifying that the issue is on the trailer side of things and not trucks connector. You can test this by having a friend turn on the turn signals and apply the brakes while you text the pins of the connector using a circuit tester like # PTW2993.

If you have power, then replacing your current connector with the # HS381-9000 and checking the wiring will fix your issue.

If you do not have power, then I recommend checking the towing fuses in the engine bay fuse compartment of your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 and make sure they are not blown or missing.
