Question:

Hi There, My dads RV converter has gone out. He has a Grand Junction 2005 5th Wheel with a Parallax 500-555 Series converter. I need to know if the PD4655V will work as a replacement. I have attached a picture of the front of the converter that is currently in his rv the Parallax 500 series. He is worried the PD4655V wont work, fit, etc. or that he may need to buy a lot of additional parts. Will you please review and advise if PD4655V will work? And if so, will there need to be any additional parts purchased? If PD4655V would not work, what recommendations do you have instead? Thank you!

I'm glad you asked, because I reached out to our tech contact at Progressive Dynamics, and was told the # PD4655V would not be a compatible replacement for your dad's Parallax 500-555 Series converter. I asked the correct part, and what they said that for this converter, the only recommendation they have is to replace the entire power center with their PD4500 series, which is the following part:

- Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger # PD4560K18LS8

This will be a new power center and charger for your dad's battery bank, and will inside a cut out that measures 10-1/8” x 13-1/4”. I have added links below to both the instructions and some video reviews for you to check out as well which I recommend taking a look at.
