Can I Use Grease To Lubricate Nylon Bushings On Trailer Leaf Springs?

Question:

Is greased required on an open eye leaf spring between the nylon bushing and the leaf spring. Ive seen differing views on this subject. To grease or not to grease.

Expert Reply:

I never recommend using grease with Nylon Bushings # TRBU11566. The grease can trap dirt which will cause the nylon to become damaged easier. And the chemicals in different greases can cause the nylon bushings to break down.

If you want to use Grease # L11390 on your suspension system I recommend using Wet Bolts # 126B2 with Bronze Bushings # D014-077-00. This will allow you to apply fresh clean grease inside the bushing while pushing out the old grease and dirt.
