Hi, My husband and I bought the SportRack Vista Cargo Box a few years ago used - via Craig’s List and have taken it on trips a few times. Recently went to unlock it and neither key will turn in the lock. It is lock #2802 and key #229. I don’t know if we were given the original keys with the box, or if the ones we have are duplicates as they have always been finicky when trying to unlock the box lid. Please advise. Thank you

I have a solution for you depending on which direction you want to go, but typically your key number will need to match the lock number-so this situation is a little confusing; it also may be the reason that the locks have never quite worked perfectly. If you wanted the key to match your 2802 lock, you'll want the # THKEYN2802.
You may want to consider just replacing the lock since it's possible that it's just seized up over time and there is a replacement lock cylinder for your SportRack Vista rooftop cargo box # SR7018. For a lock cylinder and key kit you can use part # TH450200. This kit consists of two matching cores and keys (you'll then have both a spare lock and a spare key) as well as the necessary Control Key that you will use to install the new core. This might be the best solution since the lock is likely in need of replacement anyways.

Howdy. Purchased 2820 keys for my Sportrack roof carrier. Cylinder number 2820 . Keys will not open the lock. ????. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Serge
