Hello, neighbors and friends. I'm Steve here at etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this replacement key for your Thule racks and carriers, specifically key number N2802. They might be saying, "Steven, how do I know which key I need" Well, it's actually pretty simple. Go out to your carrier or your rack, look for the lock core. Wherever you insert your key, right next to that, on the front face of that lock core you should see an engraved number.

Simply match up that number with the key you're looking for. So in this case, let's say we had 2802. And then you order the key number 2802, you can see it engraved here on the key as well. So again, this is gonna replace one missing or lost Thule key And again, you're getting one. If you need more than one, simply add more to the cart before you make your purchase.

Replacement key fit perfectly and after shipping issues from the carrier (outside etrailer control). Staff stayed attentive to the order, noticed the shipment was stuck in a loop with usps and repackaged a new shipment to make sure I received the product. Highly recommend!! I doubt that anyone will read this but I'll say my 2 cents worth.I was looking for replacement locksets for a car-top box.I literally stumbled on etrailers site.Well,short story is I found my old Karrite box under a new name ,Sportrack.They looked identical,locks looked the same.etrailer listed replacement locks for a great price with reasonable shipping.Then, reading on I found a replacement key for my locks,so I ordered 1 of those as well.So now I have a spare set of locks.All said I'm very pleased with my etrailer experience.

The replacement keys I ordered was for a Sears Car Top carrier. I had recently broken mine in half and I searched using Google and the number on my broken key and etrailer.com was one of the first that came up. What do you do when you have lost or damaged your key beyond repair and like in my situation, you have a rooftop cargo carrier that is locked and you would like to use it and have no key. etrailer to the rescue! All you need is the lock number and brand name and you'll have your replacement key on the way! Yes, way! No locksmith needed, this is good news and good stuff.

I purchased a Sears SV-20 car top carrier (made by Thule) for a move 16 years ago. Worked great only used once and then safely stored in the garage. 16 years later I need to use it and can't locate the keys....what to do?

Well we all know Google is our friend and that brought me to etrailer.com on my phone. So I called them up and I was skeptical about doing it but it all worked out great, did it all over the phone took all of 5 minutes read them the number printed on the lock and a couple days later the keys appeared on my doorstep.

I immediately tried the key. Still not really believing it was going to work, you know it can't be that easy. Right? Turns out it was. Key(s) worked perfect!

Isn't this how it should be? Every time we order something?

Wonderful! I am so grateful for etrailer. We lost our cargo carrier keys and I just assumed we would have to call a locksmith and deal with a big expense to get new copies. But we were able to get custom keys made through etrailer. It was inexpensive and super easy!

Was told by my local last resort locksmith that I would probably have to call Sweden to get a spare key for a Sears rooftop carrier, I went online to find etrailer.com. Decided to cut to the chase and call the 800#. The associate who answered my call could not have been more helpful if she tried. Says no problem, probably have it in stock and will ship today. I was given a cargo carrier about 4 years ago, but misplaced the key. I had calls in to two different locksmiths to make a key, but neither answered for three days. I decided to google replacement keys for the particular cargo carrier I have and etrailer came up. I called on Monday and I just got the keys on Wednesday. They work fine. Replacement Lock Core 2802 for SportRack Vista Cargo Box
I have a solution for you depending on which direction you want to go, but typically your key number will need to match the lock number-so this situation is a little confusing; it also may be the reason that the locks have never quite worked perfectly. If you wanted the key to match your 2802 lock, you'll want the # THKEYN2802. You may want to consider just replacing the lock since it's possible that it's just seized up over time and there is a replacement lock cylinder for your SportRack...

This key may work with your Sears X-Cargo Sport 20 Cargo Box, but the lock on the cargo box must have same key number stamped on the face of the lock (see photo). The X-Cargo Sport 20 was made by Thule and Thule used their locking system with these boxes. Thule stamped a key number on the keys and on the locks so replacement keys and locks could be ordered. Thule Key Will Not Operate Sears X-Cargo Lock Core
The Replacement Key for Thule and Sportrack Racks and Carriers part # THKEYN2802 will work with the Sears X-Cargo Carrier if it has a lock core with "2802" stamped into it. If you have verified that the key number matches the lock core number then you might want try and spray a lubricate inside the lock core to make sure there is no debris that is stopping the lock from turning. If the spray lubricant does not work you will need to replace the lock core and housing with the Replacement...

Thule designed the Sears boxes so this will work well for you. If you have a hard time turning the key the first time, I do recommend inserting the key and giving it a quick light tap with a rubber mallet to seat the cylinder.

Troubleshooting New Thule Key That Does Not Operate Lock
With new keys such as # THKEYN2802 it is not unusual to need to lightly tap the key all the way into place in the lock core the very first time you use it so that it seats fully. You can use a rubber mallet or small hammer to gently coax the key into its fully-inserted position. This usually does the trick.
