Question:

Hi, I have a 2019 F250 short bed 4 wheel drive Lariat 6.2 liter gas all stock at the moment. I will be placing a 2000 Lance slide in camper with a dry weight of roughly 3700 pounds. My truck and camper configuration puts my gvwr right at the max at about 9500-1000 pounds. I don’t plan to exceed the gvwr with my Lance camper loaded on truck, but I will be awfully close to max gvwr. I’m looking to put the rear helper springs paired with rear bags to alleviate the downward force and get a better ride when the camper is fixed to the truck. In addition, prevent as much rear sway as possible when loaded. Can I pair helper springs with the Firestone rear bags or is not an option?

Since the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle # F35FV and the helper springs like the # SSR-127-54 install at the same spot you will only be able to install one of them on your 2019 Ford F-250 4WD, but you will also more than likely need just one of the two.

I recommend going with the # F35FV as it offers 5000lbs of load leveling support which is plenty since you mentioned your Lance truck bed camper is around 3700lbs, and it is adjustable allowing you to air up the springs when you have the camper installed, and you can air them down when you are unloaded to keep the factory ride quality.

On the other hand if you are keeping the camper in your truck all of the time, going with the # SSR-127-54 would be a good option as they provide 2800lbs of support to your suspension, and do not require any maintenance.

Now if you wanted extra support and have lower overload springs you could install the TorkLift # TLA7310S which engages the overload spring sooner, and will with the Firestone kit installed. This is not required as the Firestone kit has enough capacity for your camper, but there would be nothing wrong with adding both.

To keep from having to manually inflate the air helper springs each time you are ready to go on your next adventure with your Lance camper I recommend adding an on-board air compressor kit like the Firestone Air Command II - Analog Gauge w/ Heavy Duty Compressor - Dual Function - 150 psi # F2219 which will allow you to adjust the air pressure in each spring independently to level your truck even if the weight of the camper is not even side to side, and you can adjust the air pressure from the comfort of your driver seat.
