Question:
Hello, I have been looking at different travel trailers and really like the new apex nano 203 rbk but do not like the idea of the axles + leaf springs, the Winnebago I was looking at has torsion axles which i like better but the RV is more expensive and has less features. Im considering getting the Apex Nano and doing something like installing the axle-less suspension, any idea if this would work on this model? Aslo i saw the tandem axle silent ride upgrade, would that be better? I think the biggest concern i have is the sketchy looking leaf spring setup on most travel trailers. Thank you!

A Timbren Axle-Less system or Silent Ride system would definitely upgrade the stock leaf spring set up on any camper or trailer. That being said, there are a couple things to keep in mind when choosing one of these systems..
The Timbren Axle-Less System # ASR5200S01 will replace the axles as well as the leaf springs. This will also give you independent suspension, which will handle nicely when towing, especially over uneven ground. The only caveat with this system, is that it specifically utilizes the inner bearing # 25580 and the outer bearing # 14125A. If your current hubs do not match these bearings, you would need to replace them with # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K if you have brakes, or # AKIHUB-865-7-2-EZ-K if they are idler hubs. These will use an 8 on 6 1/2 bolt pattern as well, so depending on your current bolt pattern, you may need to have the wheels replaced as well.
The Timbren Silent Ride will utilize the axles that come with the camper/trailer, but with the weight capacity of 14,000 pounds on the # TSR14K35T01 and 10,000 pounds on the # TSR10KT02, they are limited to 3 inch diameter axles. Big plus with this style of set up is not needing to replace any of the hubs or anything.
With all that being said, I prefer the # ASR5200S01. As there is no tube running across the bottom of the trailer, they will offer better ground clearance. With all 4 wheels being able to move independently, they will offer the best ride as well.
