Does this have to installed upside down for the 8 inch rise?

There is a correction for the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount # 325-GH-12005. It is only capable of being mounted in the drop position.
To get the rise you are looking for in a shock absorbing style hitch I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC10. This allows for 8-3/4"" or rise and 10" drop.
