Will a 5th Wheel Trailer Wheel Size 295/70-18 Fit on the Curt Hitch Spare Tire Carrier

Question:

Is there enough clearance between wheel and fifth wheel camper with this installed while towing fifth wheel camper? Wheel is 12 inches wide. 295/70-18

I calculated the overall diameter and width of your tire and then went out to my warehouse to determine how your tire would fit on the Curt Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier, # C31006. I found that the furthest forward part of your spare tire would sit directly above the last hitch pin hole (see photo). This is assuming your wheel has a zero offset, meaning the hub mounting surface on the wheel is in the middle of the wheel.

If the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch sits recessed under the fifth wheel trailer, then your spare tire will not fit on this carrier without hitting the back of your trailer. If your hitch pin hole sits past the rear wall of your fifth wheel trailer, under a bumper for example, then the distance from your hitch pin hole to the rear exterior wall of your trailer will be the clearance you will have with this carrier.

If you determine that your wheel will fit on this spare tire carrier and clear your fifth wheel trailer, you will need to consider if your bolt hole pattern is compatible with the bolt hole slots on this carrier. I have attached another diagram showing the dimensions of the mounting surface of this carrier for you to compare to your spare tire bolt hole dimensions.
