Does 4 Lug 4.80-8 and 4.80-12 Wheel/Tire Combo Use Same Wheel Bolt Pattern
Updated 08/13/2025 | Published 03/31/2021 >
Question:
I have a boat trailer that has 4-80-8 4 lug wheel, can I put a 4-80-12 4 lug on the hub. I can move the fenders up if needed. I just need to know if the two as interchangeable.

If your 4.80-8 wheel/tire is mounted on a wheel with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern, then a 4.80-12 mounted on a wheel with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern such as # AM30620 would indeed fit. The bolt pattern is the same, the only thing that changes is the size of the tire and the diameter of the wheel.

Based on the previous 4.80-8/4.80-12 trailer wheel swap question, does it matter if the current 4.80-8 rims use Lug Bolts (4x4 pattern), for hub attachment instead of lug nuts? I thank you for your time.
