Recommended Hitch for 5th Wheel Trailer to Tow Small Trailer with 4 Wheelers

Published 04/02/2021

Question:

What are these brackets for? Are they for additional jacks because I have self leveling jacks further up. So previous question was I was told to buy a 13703 Curt hitch so I can pull atv’s behind my fifth wheel

It sounds like you've got 70" between the two side frame stanchions on your trailer, so the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703 you were looking at is going to be the best solution. This hitch will work on box frame, C-channel frame, or I-beam frame trailers.

If your trailer doesn't have a trailer connector on the rear you'll also need to add that. The best solution is to use Bonded 4-wire # 16-4B-1 , which is sold by the foot and the Tekonsha 4 Pole Hardwire Kit # 18252 . You will need to splice the bonded wire into the wiring on your 5th wheel's 7 way connector and then run enough of the bonded wire to the back of the vehicle to allow you to wire on the 4-way for the boat trailer. You may also want some butt connectors for 16 gauge wiring like this pack of 5 with part # 05731-5.

The brackets on the # 13703 are what will be attached to the frame of your trailer. You won't be able to mount the cross tube to the trailer without them.
