Question:
We are towing a 3500 lb Fleetwood Niagara with our 2021 Honda Pilot. I have installed the Sumo Springs CSS-11225. Is any other type of sway control for a Pilot recommended or needed? Thanks!

I definitely recommend using a weight distribution hitch with sway control with your 2021 Honda Pilot towing a 3,500 lb trailer. The general rule is that if the trailer weight is more than 50 percent of your vehicle weight, you want a weight distribution system, and the reason is even with suspension enhancement you'll still experience sag and sway with so much weight behind your vehicle.
A weight distribution hitch with sway control will level your ride and allow for the most controlled, safest towing experience. You do need to make sure your 2021 Honda Pilot has a trailer hitch rated for use with weight distribution, such as the etrailer # e98840.
You also need the right system, which will depend on your loaded tongue weight, which we can estimate to be just over 400 lbs based on your trailer with a 3,500 lb GVWR. Based on that I highly recommend going with an option from Fastway:
- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0600
I love the Fastway system for a number of reasons, starting with its superior sway control, which is created by friction at two points on the brackets and is going to give you a much more controlled (and safe) ride than other options. The e2 is also really easy to set up, especially compared to systems that use chains, saving you a lot of of time.
The Fastway # FA94-00-0600 is also easily the best value among weight distribution hitches, with a unique combination of relative cost-effectiveness and high quality. As you can see by the hundreds of reviews on the product page, our customers who have used it have given it a nearly 5-star rating.
The only thing that you would need with this system is the right size hitch ball for your trailer coupler, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # A-6 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-90.
