Question:
I am interested in Curt safety towing chains. I keep reading that they are assembled in China. Is this a red flag? Are these chains going to as reliable and safe as towing chains made in the USA?

You are correct that the Curt safety chains like the Curt Safety Chains with Latching Hooks # C19749 are made over seas, but that does not mean they are not still a quality part. Quite a few manufacturers of chains actually use products from over seas.
With that said the Curt # C19749 still meets the expectations of what you expect from a Curt products and I would not be hesitate to use them on a trailer. You will want to make sure that the chains meet or exceed the GVWR of your trailer. The # C19749 has a weight capacity of 5000lbs so as long as that exceeds the GVWR of your trailer you will be just fine.
If you would prefer a safety chain that is made in the USA, we offer the 35" Long Safety Chain with Clevis Slip Hook, 5,400 lbs # 1483-535-04 which will be a quality product as well.
I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
