Upgraded Hubs with Higher Weight Capacity for #84 Spindle

Question:
My boat trailer has 1500# hubs and bearings . This trailer was not set for my 26 boat. Last year the trailer kept burning the bearings out. I was thinking I would go to a heaver hub and bearings. The trailer has a #84 spindle and I would like to try a 3500# hub and bearings. Is this possible, I have 14 tires.

Expert Reply:
The #84 spindle is rated at 1,750 lbs so for an idler hub I recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K which is also rated for 1,750 lbs. There won't be an option for a higher rated hub. In regards to installation, make sure you are not tightening the castle nut too much as this can cause the bearings to burn up as well as improper lubrication.
