Published 03/04/2021

Question:

Trying to choose between DL 24870, DL 52001, and DL 52010. What are the differences?? Last two have remotes but what other differences are there? Thanks

When picking out a boat trailer winch the general rule of thumb is that you need a winch that has a capacity that matches at least 50 percent of the total trailer weight. So since your trailer weighs a total of 6,000 lbs a 3,000 lb winch like the Dutton Lainson part # DL24870 that you referenced which has a 3,000 lb weight capacity would be a really great option.

The difference is the remote like you mentioned as well as the power cable connection. The part # DL24870 does not have a remote and has a power cable that's designed for a permanent attachment, the part # DL25010 has as remote and has a power cable with quick disconnects, and part # DL25001 has the remote but has a permanent power wire setup.
