How To Wire 7-Way for Curt Echo On 2021 Toyota Highlander

Question:

My 2021 Highlander is going to wind up with a 4 pin trailer connector after I add the necessary converter. I will then adapt this to a 7 pin. Why do I have to run a power wire to the batterywont the 12V from my camper back feed into the brake controller?

In order to install a 7-way on a 2021 Toyota Highlander I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # TK99FR and then the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. In regards to the installation of the adapter, the black power wire will need to be run to the vehicle battery if using a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. The controller would not be able to receive power from the trailer. The blue wire on the other and won't be needed nor would the yellow in most cases.
