Question:
If I am replacing my brakes . How do know if my drums are still good

Expert Reply:
As long as the surface where the brake magnet rides is in good shape with no damage, and there are no signs of excessive heat like discoloration or cracks in the surface where the brake pads ride, there is really no advantage or need to replace your drums.
If you do see any cracks, discoloration, or grooves on the surface where the brake magnet or brake pads ride you will need to replace the hub and drum assembly.
If you end up needing a replacement hub and drum assembly, just let me know the bearing numbers that are stamped into the face of both the inner and outer bearing as you can see in the included picture of the # L44649, or if the bearings are worn to the point where the bearing number is gone you will need to measure the spindles with digital calipers like # PTW80157 according to the included diagram.
With the bearing numbers or spindle measurements, I will be able to recommend the correct replacement hub and drum assembly for you should you need it.
