Question:
I have a 2018 ram 2500 w turbo diesel. We are buying a toy hauler travel trailer w/ a GVW of 12,800 lbs. I am in need of a weight distribution hitch system. I am looking specifically at the equalizer but debating between the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW or the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 16,000 lbs GTW, 1,600 lbs TW. I have a class V hitch on my truck. Do you believe the 16000 lb system will perform weight distibute and prevent sway better than the 14000 lb system? Or is there any reason one may perform better than the other? My thought is the 16000 w 2 1/2 in shank would be slightly better. Thanks in advance!

I agree with you that the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 16,000 lbs GTW, 1,600 lbs TW # EQ64FR is likely going to be the best way to go since it's going to give you a little bit more leeway with the tongue weight of your trailer, but a lot of this depends on the actual loaded tongue weight of your trailer.
Typically you want the actual tongue weight of your trailer to fall right in the middle of the range for the weight distribution system. You will want to make sure you get your fully loaded tongue weight above 1200-lbs or you may have a little bit more rigid ride, but consider it's got the 2-1/2" shank and the fact that it will provide a bit more robust sway control for that size of a trailer I think it's the best choice for you.
I would encourage you to load the trailer up fully and see what your fully loaded tongue weight looks like and if it falls under 1200-lbs you're probably going to be better served going with the # EQ37140ET and just swapping out the shank with the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Rise/6" Drop # EQ90-02-4900. It will still provide solid sway control for you and there is an available 2-1/2" shank so that shouldn't be a deterrent.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out, as well.
