Regular or HD RoadActive Suspension for 2018 Ford F-150 2WD
Published 01/24/2021 >
Question:
Hi, Im considering the Roadmaster Active Suspension kit for my 2018 F150 4x2. I tow a Jayco TT that is about 7k pounds, with a tongue weight of about 950 with the hitch. If I go this route, which RAS kit regular or HD would be best for my application? Thanks for your thoughts.

First of all, great choice for suspension enhancement for your 2018 Ford F-150 2WD as the RoadActive Suspension is an exceptional system. In regards to the correct version, it really comes down to how much sag you get:
- Less Than 2 Inches of Sag: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-B
- More than 2 Inches of Sag: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit - Heavy Duty # RAS94FR
It doesn't have to be exactly 2 inches of course; if you're getting near the 2 inch mark I would go with the Heavy Duty option. And based on the trailer you have with the tongue weight as high as it is, it would seem like the HD is going to be the best choice for you.
In regards to why this is the best option, the Roadmaster Active Suspension is an active system which works to continually reinforce your original leaf spring suspension. So the force normally put on your F-150's leaf springs gets transferred to the RAS Enhancement Kit instead, allowing your leaf springs to work normally. This will help you stay level while also improving your traction and handling.
I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like of the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-B and Heavy Duty # RAS94FR.
