Question:

I have a blue ox tow bar.. I need the rest not sure what to get.. I am flat towing my 2019 ram Laramie 1500 truck with a Tiffen Allegro bus diesel pusher.. do I need the breaking system?

2019 was a split model year for the Ram 1500 where they produced two distinct models, the 1500 Classic which is mechanically identical to the 2018 model and the 1500 Ram with is the all new model, the first model year of the 5th generation.

If you have the 1500 Classic, you'd need the # BLU74FR Blue Ox base plate, which is compatible with the Laramie trim. The base plates will work with the Blue Ox Acclaim, Adventurer, Aladdin, Allure, Alpha, Avail, Aventa, and Trion tow bars.

You'll also need safety cables, which Blue Ox typically provides with their tow bars. If not, use # RM-643. For wiring the taillights, use the Roadmaster Diode Kit, part # RM-15247. You will indeed need a supplemental braking system. If your Tiffin Allegro has hydraulic brakes, the # SM99251 Stay in Play DUO would be an outstanding choice. If the motorhome has air brakes, use the # SM99243 Air Force One system. You'll also need a brake lamp switch kit for the monitor in the motorhome. The actual switch needed will depend on how your truck is equipped. I'd recommend the universal brake light switch, part # RM-751000.

For the 2019 Ram 1500, you'd use # BLU99FR. The rest of the parts would be the same as mentioned above.

Finally, once hitched up, your tow bar should sit within 3 inches plus/minus of level. If it's not, you'll need a high/low adapter to bring the level within that range. I'll link to our selection of adapters, as well as to a help article about how to determine which one you need.
