Traction Material for Inside of Ramp Door on Toy Hauler

Updated 01/14/2021 | Published 01/13/2021

Question:

Good morning, I have a Grand Design Toyhauler that I haul a motorcycle and a SxS in. I would like to add some traction for the motorcycle side on the ramp. Ive considered the traction tape but my current door has a grit texture already so tape will not stay. Wondering if you have any ideas? Thank you

Other than the grip tape such as # PT24ZR or # PT57ZR we do offer an alternative that might work for you. I'd recommend using a rubber utility mat like part # DZ85009, which measures 6 feet by 3-1/2 feet wide. You might need to trim the mat to meet your needs, but this seems like a good solution. I'd recommend using contact cement to attach it to the inside surface of the ramp.

Depending on what the inside surface of the ramp is and how the grit is applied, it might be possible to remove portions of the grit by sanding with a belt or orbital sander. This could allow you to get a smooth enough surface that the tape would adhere.
