Question:

Does blue ox make a 3 inch shank weldment for their hitches. Seems like a better system than 2 inch reducers.

While there is not a 3 inch shank available for a Blue Ox weight distribution system like the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1500, a reducer is definitely a viable option that is just as safe and will work really well.

The best option for this is a reducer sleeve that fits inside your 3 inch receiver as opposed to an adapter that sticks out of the hitch, and for that you will need the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeves - 3" to 2-1/2" or 2" # C45408.

This will just slide into your hitch so there isn't an extra part like with a reducer that sticks out; this sleeve just "shrinks" (for lack of a better word) the inside of your receiver to work with a 2-1/2 inch or 2 inch shank on your Blue Ox system.
