Tires & Wheels for 86 Jayco Pop Up with 2.75 Pilot Hole & Wheel Bolts

Updated 12/11/2020 | Published 12/09/2020

Question:

I have a 1986 Jayco jay series 705. It has the original 8” wheels and uses bolts for attachment. The pilot hole on the spare wheel measure 2.75” do you have any 10” wheels that have a 2.75” pilot hole? (Additional information: Currently 5.7X8" tires. Can go larger up to 20.5" total height. Bolt pattern = 4x4.)

There may be a solution but I do not have 8” or 10” wheels with 2.75” pilot holes. They are all 2.5” pilot holes. I have 12” wheels with 2.84” pilot holes. For example,
Kenda # AM30790 is a 5.3 X 12” trailer tire with a 2.8” pilot hole, load range C and 65 mph.
Kenda # AM30780 is a 5.3 X 12” trailer tire with a 2.84” pilot hole, load C, 65 mph.
Kenda # AM3H370 is a 205/65-R10 trailer tire with a 2.5” pilot hole, load C and 81 mph.

If you were using lug nuts (instead of bolts) then only the bolt pattern would matter. Since you are using wheel bolts it is important that the pilot matches.I recommend measuring the pilot hole on your existing wheel once more to ensure it doesn't match up with one of these options As you can see above, a slight difference could be a fit.

The next solution is to replace the complete axle, hubs, wheels, tires, bearings, etc., starting with something like the CE Smith # CE33201GA-HUB Axle with Idler Hubs. If you wish to pursue that route I will get you a list of the measurements of bearing sets, spindles, axle lengths, and others necessary.
