Question:
Could you please tell me what base plate I would need with this sterling tow bar owner states it is a #024902 . Also if you could tell me is there other adapters to use with other base plate manufacturers. I plan on buying a base plate for a 2008 Honda CRV AWD and was looking at another but not opposed to buying a road master base plate I just dont know which one for this tow bar. Thanks

In order to use a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar on a 2008 Honda CR-V, I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit part # RM-521559-5. This option allows you to get rid of the crossbar so you can make a direct connection on each side which cuts down on time and keeping track of additional parts. There are adapters to use other base plates but you are again adding other parts which take more time to setup each time, create an additional fail point, add extra cost, and add more parts to keep track of. The base plates only need to be installed one time so any difference in design and cost savings from using another manufacturer's base plates would be short lived.
