If you want your vehicle to keep a factory look when it’s not being towed, this base plate kit does just that. The invisible design leaves no crossbar or bulky brackets in sight, and the tabs stay on your tow bar so nothing sticks out from the bumper. Snap-in polyethylene covers keep dirt and debris out of the receivers, helping the arms slide in and out smoothly every time you hook up.
Connecting takes just a few steps—insert the tab into the receiver, twist to lock, and secure it with the included pull pin. The simple twist-lock design makes setup quick and solid whether you’re in your driveway or at a campsite. The bracket spacing is 23-11/16" center to center, and the bracket height is 16-1/2", so you can plan your tow bar alignment around those measurements.
This sturdy steel base plate is built to handle the stress of long-distance towing. The design spreads towing forces evenly across the chassis to minimize weight on the suspension. It bolts directly to the frame—no welding required—and includes all the necessary hardware for secure installation that’s ready for mile after mile of travel.
You don’t have to replace your tow bar to use this setup. It’s directly compatible with Demco, etrailer, and Blue Ox tow bars without an adapter. If you’re running Roadmaster equipment, just add the correct adapter (e98983, e98984, e98979, or e98981—sold separately). An electrical bracket is included so you can easily mount a round connector up front for a clean wiring setup.
This is a straightforward install you can tackle yourself on a weekend. The kit bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis with no welding required and comes with clear instructions plus all mounting hardware. Still working perfectly. Towed the jeep about 2000 miles from WA State down to Disneyland and then to Las Vegas and back. Plus dozens of camping trips.

Hi Shawn, the etrailer Invisible Base Plates part # e66GV are not a fit for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is why the shutters had to be removed, and the instructions didn't cover it. These base plates fit the previous 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee model, but due to changes in the fascia and bumper they're not a fit for the 2026 model due to those modifications. However, the actual frame of the 2026 Grand Cherokee is still the same as the 2025 model, so the base plates are safe to tow with.
