What do you Recommend for my New Boat Trailers Hubs Bearing Buddies or Dust Caps

Question:

Hi, I just finished rebuilding my boat trailer to tow a new boat to me back to Florida from Maine. A long haul. Everything went great but I have yet to put the trailer in the water to launch the boat. Before I do,,,,, I have a stupid question to ask. The trailer has a 5200 lb axle with a grease fitting in the middle of the axle. At first I thought that was awesome set up and probably is for trailers that dont go in the water. I have always used Bearing buddies but with this type of axle can I or should I use bearing buddies? I believe the ones that will fit my Kodiac hubs are BB2441. If you say dont bother with BB2441 does that mean I will be hostage to constantly pulling the hubs and repacking the bearings? I hope there is a better way... Can I remove the grease fitting in the center of the axle and use the Bearing Buddies like I always have in the past? Whats the hot set up for marine use??? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The bearing buddies are definitely the way to go to keep your bearings properly greased and protected during submersion. The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors part # BB2441 are for hub bores that are 2.441". That is the bore found commonly of 5,200 lb. axles but always good to take a quick measure to ensure they will work.
