Which Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Kit Should I Use

Question:

If I order one level up for the axel on my trailer will there be a negative effect? Example: Installed 5000 axel at 3inch 2560 kit an I order the 7000 axel spring kit at 3inch 2570 kit. I have a habit of always overkilling.. Thanks

The short answer for this is yes, you will experience negative effects when using a Comfort Ride kit designed for a higher capacity. When using 7000-lbs springs on a 5000-lbs axl, you're going to create a much more harsh ride which could potentially lead to damaging other components on the trailer. Going overkill on your suspension really isn't necessary and will only negatively effect the comfort of your towing experience in the long run, so it's not recommended. Additionally, the Roadmaster Comfort Ride kits are designed for specific axle diameters, so they're not going to be compatible across different sizes of axles/capacities.

If you've got tandem 3" axles with a 5000-lbs capacity you'll want to use theRoadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers - Tandem 5K Trailer Axles # RM-2460-2560. For a 3" axle with a 7000-lbs capacity you'll want to use the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers - Tandem 7K Trailer Axles # RM-2460-2570 and for a 3-1/2" axle with 8k capacity the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks - Tandem 8K, 3-1/2" Axles # RM-2470-2580 is the correct kit.
