How to Reduce the Amount of Force it Takes to Engage my Spring Bars on my Fastway E2
Updated 08/05/2020 | Published 08/03/2020 >
Question:
Installed the FA94-00-1000 0n our 2013 20foot Passport. Our problem is getting the bars on and off. When putting them on they hang a good 2inch from the bracket and take some extreme force to get them on, Then we have trouble getting them off. We try raising the truck with the jack and that will help sometimes, however, 9 out of 10 times we have to use a hammer or something the snap them off. I am talking extreme force . When installing, all measurements were right.. Bracket is set on lowest setting. What can we do.

The only way to reduce the force needed to get the bars engaged on weight distribution systems like the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control part # FA94-00-1000 is to reduce the amount of pitch you have set into the weight distribution system or to use the jack to lift the trailer and truck combination higher.
Of the two options the second is the way to go. Of course you need to chock the wheels on the truck and trailer as you would anyway to be safe but overall this is the way to do it. I have installed and set up at least 85 systems and it always comes down to lifting the combo high enough then you can generally set the bars on the brackets by hand.
You should never have to use a hammer or pry bar to get the bars released this can create a very dangerous situation when they pop off.
