Boatbuckle g2 as bow tie-down

Updated 07/31/2020 | Published 07/28/2020

Question:

My trailer has square tube directly below the bow. Is there a simple 90degree bracket that would allow me to mount the G2 directly below the bow loop? For such a bracket how high off the tube does the G2 mounting hole have to be to allow clearance to operate the mechanism. Or is there a way to use the existing bolt from the clamp bolted front jack? How thick is the G2? If it is mounted next to the jack would it prevent the jack from rotating up parallel to the frame? is there concern for drilling the galvanized frame members up front where all the loads are concentrated?

The Mounting Brackets for BoatBuckle G2 # IMF14254 provides a 45 degree angle to mount the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893 to the square tube on your trailer.

If you don't need both straps you can also use the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Bow Tie-Down Strap # IMF14220. I really like this style of tie down because it is easy to use and I don't have a lot of excess strap to worry about. Everything self contained and very durable.

The BoatBuckle G2 is thick enough that it would interfere with your jack when you rotate it up for travel. To protect your trailer from rust I would use some spray paint on area where you drilled and also use stainless steel or galvanized hardware to reduce corrosion.
