Replacement Brake Shoes for 10 x 2-1/4" AxleTek Brakes

Updated 07/22/2020 | Published 07/21/2020

Question:

I have a Grand Design fifth wheel 2016 26rl, with two 4,400 axles in running 15 wheels. It looks like it is using the 10x2.25 brakes. The drum name is AXLETEK and on the backing plate is made in China. Will the BP04-095 shoes work?

Expert Reply:

The 10" x 2-1/4" Electric Brake Shoe/Lining # BP04-095 could possibly work, but I recommend going with the Replacement Shoe and Lining Kit for Manual Adjusting 10" Electric Brake Assembly # AKBRKR-S-10 instead because it is designed specifically for the AxleTek brake shoes.

Usually we recommend replacing your whole brake kit instead of just the brake shoes because some of the other internal components would need to be replaced soon too. If you want to go this route then the kit you need is part # AKEBRK-35-SA.
