Solution to Replace 2 Inch Adapter Sleeve for Pre-2014 Yakima HighLite Bike Rack

Question:

I own a Yakima Light Rider hitch mounted bike rack. My car has the larger hitch diameter. My installer sent to you for an adapter, but it is the wrong one. It is the one for a Two Timer. Mine is a LightRider 2. Is there an adapter for my rack?

The Replacement Adapter Sleeve for Yakima HighLite and DoubleDown Ace Bike Racks part # Y8890342 is the correct replacement for a Yakima HighLite 2 (8002472) as long as it was manufactured after October 2014.

It sounds like yours was manufactured prior to that date, which is why it won't fit. The older racks used a different adapter with a slightly smaller adapter screw, but it is no longer available from Yakima.

Your only solution is to replace the entire tongue assembly with the Replacement Mast with Anti-Rattle Knob and Adapter Sleeve for Yakima HighLite Bike Racks, part # 8890343. This is the updated HighLite tongue and spine upright with the new 8mm adapter screw.
