How Does the Manual Override Switch Work On the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller
Updated 06/17/2020 | Published 06/16/2020 >
Question:
The Redarc Elite has two modes - proportional mode for everyday use, and user-controlled mode. Your description also indicates The driver can also manually apply the trailer brakes without using the tow vehicles brakes. To engage the manual override, just push down on the control knob. This will activate the trailers brakes, helping you to control its momentum. When the driver pushes down on the control knob, does the driver have to hold the knob down to keep the trailer brakes on? Or is the switch a latching type, where the driver can release the knob and steer while the brakes remain applied, and then have to push the knob again to release the brakes.

The manual override feature on the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR will act just like any other manual override feature in that you will need to hold the button to apply the brakes. In other words, it acts as a momentary switch.
I am not aware of any brake controller with a manual override switch that will work in the fashion you described.
