I can tell you the details about the lifetime warranty of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98839 that fits your 2016 Subaru Forester.
The warranty covers the hitch to be free of defects of materials and workmanship for the lifespan of the hitch. So long as it is installed per the directions and not altered in any way, if there is ever an issue with the hitch it does fall under warranty for as long as you have it.
